Reflections On The Past Year.

2010 was a year of certain discoveries and realizations - I say this with a smile...

The things that became clear to me were already known but had been cleverly hidden in the murky image that i saw in my mirror.

Being reminded of how very good we are at hiding things from ourselves elicted a chuckle...It is good to laugh at yourself.

Sometimes what we perceive to be true is only a reflection of the many mirrors that we see ourselves in...and the people that we have relationships with in life also reflect different aspects of our personalities...

If we look carefully at every relationship that we draw into our lives, then even those things that we refuse to see about ourselves are impossible to ignore...even the judgements that we make about these individuals are self judgements and point to thought processes that we need to recognize and change...facing the truth about ourselves and loving ourselves no matter what we may find...

As Jimi Hendrix said, “I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see.”

Im looking forward to a year that is no longer filled with reflections but instead filled with clarity... d.cincioni ©01/05/11

  1. Clarity is a worthy and worthwhile pursuit. After much strife and struggle last year I achieved at least a portion of clarity about myself/life/relationships. I wish you success and joy in breaking those mirrors xoxo G

  3. This is key: its GREAT to laugh at oneself. The Buddhists have a saying that says, "happiness is found in detachment". The process of letting go is a tough journey, however, if you can laugh at yourself, it makes the ride so much more easier. It's like we laugh to shake off the attachment ;)

    YOu are a light Debra!

    All the best.

  6. What an unlikely place to find a Jimmy Hendrix quote, but it works! Aren't we all too self absorbed at times? Thanks for the reminder!

    All the best,

  12. Hi Debra,

~It's nice to know that others are feeling this too. I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on 2010, and what I hope for in 2011. I'm looking within myself to find my true path. With so many potentials, we have to trust in those quiet moments of connecting with our higher selves, and truly listen. #awareness

I was reminded of a favorite song while reading your post:

"Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?"
    - Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac

    Thanks Debra ღ
